I remember the original Marvel comics adaptation and, like so many movie adaptations done before the fact, there were a lot of … oddities to the cover. Not least of which the bright green Darth Vader.
(Howard Chaykin's a great artist, don't get me wrong. But this was both early in his career and, clearly, he was working off some production stills, and had a colorist who was on drugs.)
Alex Ross to the rescue.

I really kind of dug those early days of the comics before everything about Star Wars was cataloged and standardized.
Hrm I have the manga version of Star Wars. But did like the original star wars comic.
+Daniel Swensen It is fascinating — kind of like going back and seeing the pilot version of a long-running TV show. There's is joy in built-up continuity for me, but a sort of Spock-with-a-beard sense to such early works.
I want to see Alex Ross's Jax.
