I'm really hoping this will be a show that's both fun and spiritually (so to speak) tied enough to the classic form of the character to be worth watching — wit, tragedy, twists, fast talking, deep regrets, indomitable spirit. Visually it looks pretty good, but that's in some ways the least important thing the show needs to be great, vs. simply yet another network TV show.
Probably won't be able to watch the first ep of "Constantine" until sometime next week, but it's high on the list.

The dumped the smoking part because we can't have a hero (or anti-hero) making smoking cool, but I hope they don't deviate much further from the comic book character. Fingers crossed that this will be as good as it looks.
+Marty Shaw The article notes that the smoking thing may not be completely off the table. I don't know that I'd mind if we saw it — Constantine's smoking is not a "cool" kind of thing, but a definitely lethal one.
