Funny thing — when people are afraid that the police are going to engage in excessive, unjustified violence, they stop cooperating with the police — who then engage in excessive, unjustified violence.
So, apparently, declining to get out of a car while you're having a calm discussion about a traffic stop regarding a seat belt violation now justifies the police smashing the window (at your cost, of course) and tasing you and hauling you off, right in front of the kids in the back seat.
That's called "resisting law enforcement and refusal to aid an officer." Which seem like fine ideas for laws as long as you can trust the police, and open season for abuse if you can't. And incidents like this tend to tilt the populace to the latter.
