Guns are now killing more people in the US than cars

America has been concerned over highway safety for decades, and have done all sorts of things to make our roadways safer. And, by gosh, it seems to be working.

'According to data gathered by the Centres for Disease Control (CDC), deaths caused by cars in America are in long-term decline. Improved technology, tougher laws and less driving by young people have all led to safer streets and highways. Deaths by guns, though—the great majority suicides, accidents or domestic violence—have been trending slightly upwards. This year, if the trend continues, they will overtake deaths on the roads.'

Clearly improving gun safety technology, passing tougher gun laws, or discouraging gun use ownership are off the table because FREEDOM. And, really, you can't even talk about guns as a public health matter, because MORE FREEDOM.

So clearly the answer is that we need to defund the CDC.

  1. Ebola Deaths – Worldwide 2014. 5-6000
    Car Deaths US 2014 14000
    Gun deaths US 2011 – 31000

Which of these did the US media freak out about in 2014.

What I don’t understand is the resistance to monitoring who has which gun. I’m not talking about restricting ownership. I mean just knowing who has which weapon, and telling someone when you no longer have it. You register the weapon, with forensic evidence of which weapon it is. If you sell it you have to say to who. If it is stolen, you tell the police. How is this hurting you?
