Purrl has been with us for some months now, and has remained somewhat stand-offish with the other two cats, Kunoichi and Neko. Not actively hostile, but hissing when one gets too close ("But … but … I only wanted to sniff your butt!") or an occasional bat at someone strolling past.
Last evening, Purrl had left her comfy spot on the couch to wander off for a moment, and came back to find Neko had taken it. (Nice to see it doesn't just happen to the humans in the house.) Rather than wandering off disgruntled, Purrl jumped up … sat there for a few moments looking at Neko pretending to snooze … then sat down. Facing away, mind you, but sat down next to her.
Eventually plopping down to take a cat nap next to her. Actually … in contact. Which was a serious step forward. Made even moreso when Neko sort of turned around and had her paws and nose against Purrl's back for a while.
So … a distinct thaw. Let's hope it lasts. Or maybe not, because if all three cats start ganging up on us in a cooperative way, we might be in trouble.
