Spider-Man and the Marvel Cinematic Universe

I'm not a huge Spidey-fan, but I think they are doing things right here:

1. No origin story. Spidey will be introduced as-is, backstory to be explored as needed. People who are interested know who Spider-Man is, or how he got that way. No need for another take.

2. Back to basics. Peter Parker (and, it seems, his actor) will be a 15-16yo, actually in high school. This provides a refreshing contrast to the adult heroes of the Avengers, et al., and also gives them, potentially, a character that can grow up and age into things as those existing heroes/actors age out and retire.

  1. Man, if Sony hadn’t screwed up with Spidey over the last 10 years, I’d be greeting this as the awesome news it is, but right now I’ve got Spider-Man movie fatigue. I’m sure I’ll get over it as soon as I see him interact with Captain America, but it’s a shame I can’t be more excited now.
