What, DC Comics thought they had to prove they could still out-gritty the Miller-influenced Batman v. Superman movie coming out?
And … "The Master Race"?
Given the downward trajectory between the first and the second (and Miller's work in general), I shudder to think (even with Brian Azzarello to co-write/moderate/medicate him) what this will turn out like.
Frank Miller Returns to DC For Dark Knight 3: The Master Race (No, Seriously)
Because everyone was demanding a sequel to The Dark Knight Strikes Again!
An actual, physical embodiment of "feminazi" is definitely the strangest thing I've seen depicted in…. just about anything.
I can do without similar horrors being visited upon my mind.
The Dark Knight Returns was excellent in every way. They should've stopped there.
+Marty Shaw There are a number of people (judging from comments on this particular news stories on various sites) who really dislike DKR, but I like it a lot. And, yes, had Miller retired at that point, his reputation would be a lot better.
+Dave Hill , I think most people disliked it for the same reasons I liked it. At that time, I had gotten tired of comics, bored with the sameness of the storylines. And then DKR came out with an old retired Batman and a Superman who had become a government puppet. It was great. Also, dark and gritty was unique and fresh back then so it really stood out.
+Marty Shaw Yes. That was the dawn of the Grim-Gritty Era, along with Watchmen, etc.
