This is a Test of Geekery and Nerditude

I'm playing with Google+ odd new "Collections" feature, which is sort of the "Anti-Circles" way of dealing with content. My question now is whether this will publish out to my blog by way of SM2WP or not. Let's find out.

I'll even throw in the image I'm using for my "Geekery and Nerditude" Collection. Bonus points to anyone who recognizes it.

  1. Apparently "Public" Collections pass through SM2WP to my blog just fine. Sweet.

Part of what I think this will allow is for me to segregate my "Fun" stuff from my "Personal" stuff from my "Serious" stuff — for purposes of those who only want one (or another) of same. Like to read my blathering on politics but don't care about my daughter's band practice? Now (or once I have it set, then) possible. Like my fondness of comic books but think I'm a crazy liberal loon? Now you can read about my B5 obsession without bursting a blood vessel when I talk about the elections.

I'll have to ponder this a bit.

  2. +Chris Blackmore As far as I can tell, it's a "category" (like in Communities) that you can post to yourself, and folk can choose just to follow one or more of the Collections of an individual.

You can tie it to Circles if you want (only people in Circle X get access to see Collection Y), or you can make it Public.

(There is apparently a issue with stuff sent from a Collection to an individual or Circle being re-forwardable, in a way that a specific post is not. Or so I am reading elsewhere. But since I'm mostly All-Public, All-the-Time, that doesn't impact me.)

  3. Andromeda Strain. Near the beginning. This is also the room where a fragment of paper gets caught in the teletype bell. That's the teletype to the seated man's right.
