+Kay Hill has been at Band Practice evenings this week, so +Margie Kleerup and I have been re-discovering just how splendid — extremely satisfactory — the A&E Nero Wolfe adaptations were. Delightful acting, charming production values, and very good adaptations of the original novels / short stories.
Highly recommended.
Yes, indeed. The most faithful adaptions to date.
I used to belong to a Nero Wolfe mailing list, and one of our number worked on the show. She would occasionally ask the group for help, for example: what kind of hat did Wolfe wear that Archie described as a "pirate hat." Her "nom de corpus" was "the Smelly Lady."
Another fellow in the group bought Wolfe's globe at auction when they shut the show down. He posted pictures of a crane hoisting to an upper window, as it was too large for any of the doors.
On a tangential note, did you see the episode of Leverage in which Timothy Hutton's character went to a costume party as Ellery Queen, and he was dressed in his father's outfit from that TV show?
+Scott Randel I did, in fact.
Fun article here on the series and writing for it: http://www.brash-books.com/writing-nero-wolfe-tv-flumm/
Oh. I must look for this. I love Nero Wolfe.
+Paula Moore If you have not caught these before, you are in for a rare treat. The byplay between the two main actors is marvelous, the company of supporting actors is great, and it all just feels very right.
I've shared this post to myself, so I won't forget it.
