For some reason I have never been good at the long-range planning that leads to things like this, which are awesome.

Brilliant! His planning ahead as an 18 year-old is extremely impressive. (How many 18 year-olds do you know that would/could do that?) It appears as though his 18 year-old self even anticipated various possible answers to his questions and prepared follow-ups for them.
