The problem with fighting Da'esh is that we aren't willing to kill more civilians

That seems to be Ted Cruz' judgment.

"We must immediately recognize that our enemy is not ‘violent extremism.’ It is the radical Islamism that has declared jihad against the west. It will not be appeased by outreach or declarations of tolerance. It will not be deterred by targeted airstrikes with zero tolerance for civilian casualties, when the terrorists have such utter disregard for innocent life."

Yup. If the terrorists don't care about killing innocents, we can't afford to either, if we are to protect the fundamental values of human life that we all cherish. Did I get that right, Ted?

In Response To Paris, Ted Cruz Calls For Airstrikes With More ‘Tolerance For Civilian Casualties’
Cruz did not specify where these airstrikes should take place or what they should be targeting.

  1. I don’t see how he can be accused of calling for something that he specifically says won’t stop them. My guess is he’s calling for the use of ground troops here and contrasting that with the indiscriminate drone strikes he would accuse Obama of favoring. That’s neither here nor there, but to say that this is some kind of call for more civilian casualties feels like a pretty distinct misreading.
