The man is awesome, and you can always tell that he's thrilled to be the Doctor. NuWho has the tradition of changing Doctors every three years but I hope Capaldi is an exception. He hasn't been at the TARDIS controls nearly long enough yet.
I don’t think its a tradition as much as the nature of acting. Jon Pertwee was famous for his ‘always on’ for the fans, going to Cons and dramatically announcing “I’m the Doctor”
