The rewatch continues!
This one ekes out 2 stars out of 5 largely because (a) lots of eye candy and (b) the Obi-Wan and Jango Fett parts are pretty fun. If only we'd gotten a movie focused on that, instead of the galaxy's worst romance.

The de-cheesed version on YouTube is ENTIRELY WORTH IT – cuts it down to 2 hours and each scene with Anakin/Padme is cut to two, maybe 3 lines. Damn near palatable.
+Doyce Testerman I've seen that, but not had the opportunity to watch it. I may give it a try.
If nothing else, it should reduce the whiplash switching between settings / protags that the movie suffered from.
There's a de-cheesed version of Revenge of the Sith out there, is why I mentioned it… Stream it to Chromecast…
+Doyce Testerman I feel an aesthetic obligation to watch the original in all its, um, cheesy glory. But maybe as a follow-up …
I'd certainly be interested to see if you think removing/editing the films can earn it back a half or full star – if the main problem is too much crap covering up the decent bits.
More of the stupid from the first movie.
Still no Stars.
Honestly? Upon rewatch, I think the first prequel is the best of the lot. Jar Jar included. The acting, dialogue… everything gets progressively more wooden.
Half the cast of Star Wars didn't know what the hell they were doing on set, but at least they were relaxed and having fun.
+Doyce Testerman I definitely think (and am confirming) that Ep. 1 was the best of the lot, many warts and all.
