+Marty Shaw I admit, I was one of those folk who really saw this as a gag, a ploy for publicity and influence. "There's Donald, trolling for investors again."
And, heck, that's what it might have been for starters. But at some point, Trump clearly realized that he actually had a shot at this, and he didn't have to do anything different than what he enjoys doing: bragging, bombast, and smirking slander.
I still think he's arguably less of a threat than a Ted Cruz (whose agenda is crystal clear). But I don't want to be here in a year starting to find out whether I was right.
Same here. Thought it was a PR stunt. figured he'd be the first to drop out. Now I'm thinking 'Oh my God. He might actually have a shot.' Thing is, some of the others aren't a whole lot better.
+Marty Shaw That's the thing. I'd love to have a GOP contender I could root for, or at least hold my nose about. Kasich is the only one left who would not be a major disaster, and his chances are close to nil. Cruz is a theocrat of the first water, and Rubio is a major flip-flopper who's been happy to run far-right against Cruz and Trump, and just doesn't seem ready (if ever) to be president.

I don't know why people didn't think Trump was serious about being President- he is deluded enough to think of himself as a self-made man, so I assumed he always thought he could be President.
+James Williams It's never been clear whether he's deluded, or simply a self-aggrandizing sales flack.
Jim is one of my favourites on the web. Underneath all the CPO phrasology, there is a writer who knows how to pace a piece of writing.
The thing is with Trump is that people blame the politicians for allowing jobs to go abroad, not the culture and industries that sent them. People who cry for free trade, but don’t like the negative effects.
Trump looks like not part of the establishment. What he says is incidental.
