The Return of 'Buckaroo Banzai"?

If this were anyone but Kevin Smith, I'd be running headlong the other direction, but I think he has just the amount of love for the source material and zaniness to maybe make this work.

Also, the idea of having Season 1 be the original movie (with added backstory and stuff), and Season 2 being the promised-but-never-made sequel, is pretty awesome.

The devil is in the details, of course, but I'll be watching for more news on this.

Kevin Smith Is Making an Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai TV Show
A series based on wonderfully weird 1984 cult science fiction classic The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension is likely coming to TV, courtesy of Kevin Smith, and we have The Flash to thank (or blame, depending on your point of view). Read on, Hong Kong Cavaliers.

  1. I've read the screenplay for BB Against The World Crime League. I rather hope they improve on it. Finding actors is going to be a challenge, too. Man. My hopes are high, but that's a huge challenge.

  2. +John Bump Indeed. My greatest fear here is that the original was a lightning-in-a-bottle freak occurrence that could never be repeated, let alone continued. It's become so iconic that it's difficult to judge the movie for what it is, let alone try to recapture it.
