Home Depot has filed a law suit arguing that MasterCard and Visa have "colluded" to prevent use of PIN numbers on credit card transactions in the US. It says that the less-secure lack of PINs reaps more transaction fees for the credit card companies, and contractual terms that both card companies impose prevent banks or retailers from using less expensive PIN-authentication services.
That makes a lot more sense than "We don't think Americans can remember PIN numbers."

My card got skimmed the other weekend and was used at a Home Depot. I hope they lost money from it. It was used as a credit card when it was a debt.
Especially in light of the fact that Target on all of its new credit cards requires a pin. Unless we are to assume that people who shop at Target are smarter!
