Ugh.
Got a note today from my New Employer that my background check hasn't yet come in. Went to the online site where I submitted all the requested information and document scans, and see that it notes "Background – In Process / Pending 5 of 6 searches completed".
Per regulations / rules, I can't actually start or report in until that's complete. Which kind of sucks, since it's all been been in the background check company's hands since 27 June, or two full business weeks (minus the 4th of July holiday).
I will say that my New Employer is being nice, even apologetic about this — I exchanged emails with the admin running this at 11pm tonight, and she assures me that HR has asked the checking company to expedite things. Hopefully that means word will come in some time Monday, and I'll drive in when it does.
It's not like one more day will make a difference — but it's still damned frustrating, given I have my briefcase packed, my boxes packed, and my inspiring speech for my new team all written. (I do not have an inspiring speech for my new team written, but I have given thought to how I want to introduce myself to them.)
For the record, my assumption is that some responding agency / educational institution / previous employer has just been slow getting off the stick responding to the background check request, possibly because The Person Who Does That was out on vacation this week. As far as I know (hitherto-unknown Jason Bourne-style reprogramming aside), there's nothing that the background check is going to find that is amiss.
Still. Ugh.
You're going to Moscow to become Soviet Man?
Fingers crossed. At least it’s not a security clearance.
Well, as long as they are not going off the TSA list, it should only be a short wait.
As it stands, it looks like I'll be available to drive the girl to her first day of Drivers Training class. Be scared.
Clear the state!
Huh, too bad Dad got rid of the folder of 8 x 10 color glossy's of dead people in car accidents decades ago.
I'm sure I can find some online if that seems needful.
This is a girl who has grown up hearing (and chiming in) about unsafe drivers from her 'rents (and motorcyclists sans helmet as donorcycles, etc.). I'm not too worried about her level of responsibility.
