To the tune of a quarter million dollars, Donald Trump used the Trump Foundation — in a period when it was funded solely by outside sources and not by Trump himself — to pay off legal settlements against himself and his businesses. Seems pretty darned clever, if also pretty darned illegal. But, hey, we all know he's not the "Corrupt" one, right?

Isn't it the right that claims there shouldn't be "govt handouts"? And that all funding for those in need should come from charities? Over the last year I've heard of two high profile situations where charities that arguably are lead by those on the right have been caught with severely inappropriate spending. These sorts of foundations are a joke. They just add another layer of skimming off the top from donations. The foundation takes a cut, then whatever charity that is actually being funded takes a cut before any money actually impacts the cause for which the original donor intended to help. Sad really.
