Never in the course of cinematic events has so much press and vitriol been wasted on a film that was, at most (and at worst), mildly diverting and amusing.

Three stars (including a half-star for causing some folk to deservedly have their heads 'splode).

i liked it, mostly
What a load of slime.
+Paul Scollon More like a load of crap
+Robert Reynolds Yeah, but I wanted to get slime reference in there!
+Paul Scollon But hey that's a good reference
I enjoyed it, twice. I saw it in the theater with a friend, then watched it at home with the family. It wasn't perfect, of course, but I genuinely enjoyed it.
It was certainly MUCH better than the trailers made it out to be.
Got 40 minutes in and not a single funny thing had happened, so I turned it off and watched a good movie instead…..
I liked it. Will I own it on DVD? Probably not. CGI was excellent. They had enough callbacks to the original that the fans should've been happy with it, while still being original in areas.
Seems like most of the cast wasn't allowed to live up to their comedic potential. Melissa McCarthy can be very funny. Sadly, her character mostly wasn't. Same goes for Kristen Wig. On the flipside, it almost seemed like Kate McKinnon's Holtzmann was supposed to be the actual star of this supposedly ensemble film.
+Greg Stockton The trailers did this movie no favor, both in making it look much more like a copy of the original and much less funny than it was.
I found it to be a perfectly acceptable Sunday afternoon matinee comedy. A C+ rating, some great moments, but nothing all that memorable. Jones had some great bits, but for the most part it looked like McKinnon got all of the funny bits.
