GOP Congress-critters seem to think so, putting forward a bill that would make a federal offense the killing a local police officer (potentially a capital crime), assaulting a police officer (with a large minimum sentence, even if the "assault" resulted in no physical harm), and that would dramatically reduce any federal civil liability for crimes committed by police.
Because what could possibly go wrong with that?
