Tweetizen Trump – 2017-06-28: "Health Care! Fake News! Dems! Did I mention Fake News?"

Still crazy after all these hours, right, Donald? I mean, I wrapped up my summary post-camping late yesterday afternoon, and here we are early morning and you're still tweeting up a storm. What's shaking today? A weird melange of Health Care and Fake News!

With ZERO Democrats to help, and a failed, expensive and dangerous ObamaCare as the Dems legacy, the Republican Senators are working hard! [1P]

Hmmm. Maybe if some Democrats had been invited to the Sooper-Sekrit drafting committee, they might have helped. Maybe if the bill had been run before committees, as usual (and as was done for a year before the ACA was passed), the Dems would have helped.

You can't really say, "We're going to tear down the landmark legislation from the previous Democratic administration, and not include an Democrats in the drafting or amending of the bill, but, waaaah, the Democrats aren't offering to help!" Well, you can (because you just did), but you can't do it with any sort of integrity, Donald.

As to the "failed, expensive, and dangerous ObamaCare," it's just words, Donald, debunked eleventy-dozen times before.

You retweeted on your @POTUS account a factoid from the @WhiteHouse account (all these accounts, Donald!):

FACT: average premiums on the individual market are up 105% since 2013 – an increase of nearly $3K a year for the average American. [7]

Which sounds dire, Donald, but ignores that only 10% of Americans get their insurance from the individual exchanges (most get it from a job or the government, where premium rises have been much lower), and 85% of that remaining 10% had their premiums significantly offset by federal subsidies (subsidies you keep warning you're going to cancel). [8] Which isn't to say that premium increases — driven significantly by uncertainty in the market (which you and the GOP have created) aren't a problem, but it's not the case, as you imply, that the average American is paying $3K more on health insurance than in 2013.

There's nothing wrong with the ACA that can't be fixed. The GOP has obstructed any sort of fix for the last eight years. And now, rather than fixing it, the GOP is desperate to do a repeal (and, belatedly, replace), because they promised they would — which would be fine, except it's really a bill to dramatically cut Medicaid and give a huge tax cut to the wealthy, which isn't really "fixing" health insurance in America, Donald.

I just finished a great meeting with the Republican Senators concerning HealthCare. They really want to get it right, unlike OCare! [2P]

Is that why the drafted it in a sooper-sekrit committee? Is that why they've been desperately rushing to push it, first out of the House, then out of the Senate, in far, far, far less time (and with far, far, far fewer hearings and committee meetings) than the ACA?

You should thank your lucky stars, Donald, that Mitch McConnell pulled the plug on getting it passed (purely for expediency's sake) before the 4th of July recess. Because you would have lost.

The failing @nytimes writes false story after false story about me. They don't even call to verify the facts of a story. A Fake News Joke! [3]

Have you ever listened to what your press secretary and staff say when asked questions? "The President's words stand for themselves. We're not talking about this. Next question." Even assuming you're being truthful here, Donald, there seems little point in calling anyone up for verification when nobody will verify anything.

Oh, and the "failing New York Times"? Still not failing. [9] You should really put that into your autocorrect, Donald.

Some of the Fake News Media likes to say that I am not totally engaged in healthcare. Wrong, I know the subject well & want victory for U.S. [4]

Really, Donald? Because you keep making broad statements (Everyone should be taken care of! Even if the government has to pay for it! We shouldn't be mean!) that don't at all reflect the actual legislation being proposed — sometimes even after the legislation has been proposed and you're also actively tweeting about it.

What it looks like to me, Donald, is that you really don't care about the details — it's not your health insurance that's at stake — but that you want a win. You want to kick down one more big thing from the previous administration so as to prove that You Are The Boss of America.

Your engagement is to get something passed, not to get something good passed. Because the GOP congress has too many factions to get something good passed without throwing money at specialized programs and playing tax credit jiggery-pokery that won't help poorer Americans, and without being able to demonstrate to the conservatives that you are tearing apart the social safety net.

But if you want to prove that you are looking for a "victory" and that you "know the subject well" … have at it, Donald.

The #AmazonWashingtonPost, sometimes referred to as the guardian of Amazon not paying internet taxes (which they should) is FAKE NEWS! [6]

Um … Amazon is, in fact, now collecting sales taxes, Donald. [10] I believe you're sending out FAKE NEWS.

And, just to switch things up, you retweeted Fox & Friends (again) about some anti-immigration laws [11]:

HAPPENING TODAY: House to vote on immigration bills including 'Kate’s Law' and 'No Sanctuary for Criminals Act' [5]

"Kate's Law" escalates criminal penalties for illegal re-entry into the US. That doesn't really solve any problems — people aren't illegally entering the US for the heck of it, and criminals like the one who murdered Kate Steinle in 2005 wouldn't be particularly deterred by it (and, with seven felony convictions, probably shouldn't have been out / re-deported five times in the first place). But I'm sure it makes your anti-immigrant supporters feel good, Donald.

The "No Sanctuary for Criminals" Act is about defunding a handful of Justice Dept. and Homeland Security grants from states or localities determined to be in violation of federal law (as so-called "sanctuary cities"). Again, it's mostly a feel-good measure for your supporters, Donald — the dollar amounts are not huge, and I suspect the question of "in violation of federal law" is going to be subject to long litigation; it's all well and good to talk about areas that "work to affirmatively thwart Federal law enforcement efforts," but the "sanctuary city" movement is far more complex than that, as you well know, Donald (or as you should know.

Your Social Media Minions also tweeted under your name (on either your account or on @POTUS):

… a retweet from Ivanka about people fighting to end human trafficking. (Odd that there was no mention in your Twitter stream, Donald, about your State Dept. labeling your good friends in China as one of the most serious human trafficking violators in the world, largely in conjunction with those folk that they have been "trying" to rein in, the North Koreans. [12])
… two retweets of VP Pence of people suffering under Obamacare; no tweets of the millions who were able to finally get insurance coverage under Obamacare.
… two retweets from Indian PM Modi thanking you for your hospitality.

  1. +Crazy Kitty Lady Part of the travel ban (for people who have no formal ties to folk in the US) was allowed. There will be added litigation over that as to what defines that kind of formal tie. SCOTUS may or may not further review it; the time frame in the EO will have expired by the time the Court is back in session, unless Trump extends it (which will not help his case any).

  2. Health Care Workers Comment after Watching Organ Harvesting Film: “As a Nurse This Horrifies Me, As a Human This Shames Me.”

November 21, 2016 | By a Falun Gong practitioner in the United States

(Minghui.org) Thousands of public health care professionals and students descended on the Denver Convention Center in Colorado for the annual national conference of the American Public Health Association (APHA) this October.

An educational documentary film about organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience called Hard To Believe was selected to screen at the APHA Global Public Health Film Festival at the conference as a featured session in the program on Monday, October 31.

Audience members watch “Hard To Believe” at the APHA Global Public Health Film Festival.

Over 100 attendees watched the film, which was followed by a lively Q&A discussion with experts who answered questions about organ harvesting. The panel members were Dr. Dana Churchill of Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH); Winston Liu, a chemical engineer in Wyoming who was tortured and blood tested in prison in China for his belief; and Kay Rubacek, one of the producers of Hard To Believe.

Many people signed petition postcards addressed to the U.S. State Department asking for help in stopping the crimes of forced organ harvesting in China, particularly from Falun Gong practitioners who are the main target of this offense.

Some comments on the postcards read:
“As a nurse this horrifies me, as a human this shames me.”
Thank you for opening my eyes!”
    “Stop the madness”
    “Very important!!!”
    “Stop this injustice”
“Please stop organ harvesting. It is TRAUMATIC!!!”

    — Attendees at the APHA Global Public Health Film Festival

Hard To Believe is a serious investigation into the issue of organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China and investigates why so few people have been paying attention to such a serious crime.

The film has been screened for professionals and students in healthcare, ethics, international studies, social studies, and other fields since its release on American television in 2015. Audience members are often moved to tears after learning about the crime, many saying that they didn’t pay attention to Falun Gong practitioners’ appeals or flyers before, but that after seeing the film they will take notice and join the efforts to stop it.

  3. +Nico Nico Nii Kill me before gett'n anything past, all his main bills he wanted was all racial, travel ban, the wall, deportations and his plan of racial profile, which all of these brought and stired up a lot of tention that can be avoided, on the work place, schools, he would like it to be the 60's and earlier again, but it won't happen ! That's a lot of racial over tones as to why those who "IN AMERICA" voted him in, cause some agree to his madness ! But AMERICA doesn't need another Civil War !

  4. I know you would think that, cause you want his cause to be true, but he can go and make deals with Russia, along with his sons, and all his family from Bugtussle ! The mess of illegal aliens, yeah right, but for so many years, even now, so many men with money send for these third world country brides and brought them here, were as there were more Asians than Hispanic ethnicity groups ! So many here in America don't like these 3rd world countries, yet they will save up their money and go to a 3rd world country to enjoy themselves having sexual escapades with the natives, with some of the women coming back pregnant, or with the men from drop'n off a package for the women down there to remember them by ! Yet we want "NOTHING" to do with THE SO CALLED 3RD WORLD PEOPLE ! Hypocrisy!

  5. +Nico Nico Nii Kill me AND YOU CALL ME RETARDED…..I think your parents lost a bet to have had you test tube baby ! Trump and family, all had dealings with Russia ! Still I'm speak'n of the hypocrisy of AMERICANS not wanting to be with people from other nations, but we will deal with them, just as Trump dealt with Russia, which he shouldn't have !

  6. +Nico Nico Nii Kill me illegally here, tear down that statue of liberty then ! Only Americans belong to who ??? Cause they still come in from other countries, but why not others, cause none of them coming in here have citizenship right away, so some are denied access to apply where others are accepted, so the ones denied go into hiding as many did in the early 1900's- 1960's even till now ! But they all are not just third world people !

  7. +Nico Nico Nii Kill me And, no, there's really no doubt from anyone (even, now, Trump himself) about Russia interfering with the US elections. The only question is what cases there might be of cooperation / collusion between members of the Trump campaign and Russian interests. Which is what's being investigated at present, neither proven nor disproven.
