A safer and spiffier drone — but will it be cost efficient?

Using the same technology as “bladeless” fans, I would think these drones would be both safer for things they might run into and less prone to crash if they do bump into things … but will the cost make sense?

  1. I don't see cost as a deal-breaker, especially of they can be mass produced. In fact, small ones might not be much more expensive than conventional quadcopters. The question is, can they provide the efficiency and thrust necessary.

  2. I have a Dyson fan. It’s very nice, but costs 10 times as much as a good bladed equivalent. That could well be a deal-breaker. The issue of bladed drones bumping into things can be dealt with simply by shrouding the blades.
