They are, FWIW, clearly sorted and labeled. I mean, will I ever need a 15-foot parallel cable? Seems unlikely, but I've run short of cables in the past, so why take the risk?
If you are significantly older than 35, then you possibly have a spouse who is significantly older than 35 who is saying, “When are you going to get rid of all of that junk?”
Adapters. I also have many adapters. Like, for example, the male-to-male dB-25 adapter I’ve had since about 1982 but only used once, or the various flavors of Apple adapters I’ve purchased which I may never use again because Apple doesn’t use ADB, Mini DisplayPort, USB 3, Thunderbolt, or the 30 pin dock connector any longer.
+Paula Moore Well, most of the time, one end is male, and the other is female, and if you're old enough to be on G+ you can probably figure out the rest from there. 🙂
At work we trade. Everyone knows I still use parallel stuff, so I acquire those. Another coworker does a lot of older microcontroller work so he gets all the serial and 5v ftdi cables. (We had a box of a hundred of those.) Another guy is the guy who likes ps/2 keyboards and mice.
I'm old enough, and have been tech tinkering long enough, that my boxes of cables turned into a storage unit for an embarrassingly long period of time. I'm back to just too many boxes, though.
But if you need any Palm or obsolete cellphone adapters, I've got you covered.
I have that box. Lives in the cupboard with another box full of tools, vhs tapes and paintings from a time when my art teacher tricked me into thinking I was talented in order to avoid hurting my feelings.Idiot.
I'm staring at my box right now….it seems to follow me from house to house, room to room…. like it's alive and wants to be fed more cables after midnight… (NEVER DO THIS BY THE WAY!!)
+Shalmendo Glineux Redundant cables, adapters hdmi cables, charchers and amiga spectrum cables pal. Little shop….I love the fact that this is not restricted to any age group but just seems to grow with age. This is a great group of folk.
Absolutely.

I'd take that 15' parallel cable.

+David Newman I still have an iPod with the 30 pin connector. Works a charm, too. 😁
We took a grocery bag full to RePC just a few months ago. Now there’s another bag ready to go.
My theory is that cables reproduce in some way.

Only one box? That's cute. I was only 20 when the single box got too cluttered to find anything. Now that I'm 30 I'm lucky to keep it to one closet.
I have a drawer upstairs in the office.

+Michael Verona I may have cleared out my Palm/Treo cords and adaptors during the last clean out.
It's just as likely I may have missed that box.

+Daniel Baker Now I feel old. Oh well, I AM!
