Not at all surprisingly, Trump releases information to attack his enemies

Okay, go ahead and take it as a given that Adam Schiff is a partisan hack. I consider him on the side of the angels here, but not significantly more noble and altruistic and non-partisan than, say, Devon Nunes (though a lot smarter).

That said, the story as a whole is deeply disturbing. The President has the right to order the (de)classification of materials, but the selective release of information about people who he considers to be his political enemies within the Department of Justice is petty, is unbecoming, is potentially dangerous to ongoing criminal investigations (which is the idea, of course), and could feed into obstruction of justice charges in the future.

It also demonstrates all you need to know about Donald, who, like any Mafia capo, will directly attack anyone who he thinks is against him, no matter what collateral damage to justice it carries along with it.

As Trump orders the release of classified Russia docs, a top House Democrat says the FBI and DOJ told him the move would be a ‘red line’
Adam Schiff revealed that the FBI and DOJ had previously told him that they would consider the release of some of the materials President Trump wants declassified a “red line that must not be crossed as they may compromise sources and methods.”

  1. Get ready. This scandal is going to bigger than Watergate. Good luck trying to spin sworn testimony. Leftists in the DOJ/FBI…perhaps at the direction of Obama…used their authority to target and spy on a political opponent's campaign. They lied to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) to do it by basing their request for surveillance warrants on a discredited fake Russian dossier paid for by Hillary and then laundered through the press to give it credibility, and used the media stories generated by it as so called 'evidence' of suspicion. Some DOJ/FBI have been fired. Others have been demoted. They should all be prosecuted for interfering with an election, and abuse of power.

Remember…the media has conveniently forgotten…that Hillary took campaign debate questions from Donna Brazil, who has admitted it, and said NOTHING. Hillary could have asked for a new set of questions but she wanted the edge.

Hillary's corrupt and has no character. She is nothing like her public persona appears to be. What nerve she has to pen an op-ed about Trump's ugly campaign when she's the ONE that CHEATED. You know how Hillary comes up with these ideas of Trump's corruption? She's already either thought of doing it or has done it! I have to laugh at the accusations against Trump for which there is NO EVIDENCE when Hillary cheated…she cheated Bernie, she tried to cheat Trump, and she tried to cheat the American people.

Hillary's planted fake Trump/Russian dossier has ruined lives, cost American taxpayers millions of dollars and divided the nation.

Hillary has been in agony ever since she lost the election because she can't figure out how she rigged the election in her favor by taking debate questions before the debate and creating a false Trump/Russia collusion narrative in the media with her multi-million dollar fake dossier she hired Russian agents to fabricate…and STILL she lost. It's KARMA, Hillary, and the ability of the American people to see right through you to your corrupt heart.

  2. +Kathie Gifford Your diatribe is too full of hilarity to delete, too full of holes and misstatements to take seriously, and too long to be anything but a canned comment to post wherever you decide to pivot a conversation from what Trump is doing now to what Clinton supposedly did two years ago.

    Aloha.

  3. +Bill Baird It's really kind of two different things.

No, actually, it's the same thing: selective release of documents for a political end.

In the case of these documents, it's selectively releasing those documents, or portions of documents, that will make the people Trump is angry about look bad.

In the case of Kavanaugh, it's only releasing those documents that will make Trump's nominee look good.

  4. +Bill Baird Well, the media in general (of whatever political persuasion) always wants whatever it can get. They will generally respect classified material or material that's not open for release yet (e.g., is still in use as part of an ongoing criminal investigation), but may question whether those statuses are being misapplied or are just convenient excuses to hide info the government doesn't want shown.

They also, generally, don't care for information being selectively released to them that appears intended to have a certain effect. They don't care to be manipulated (though they let themselves be).
