The fire at the Brazil National Museum was a horrifying tragedy. The museum contained tremendous amounts of South American heritage items, but also antiquities from around the world.
Wikipedia is trying to collect as much visual information about these items as possible, so that scholars can associate the information they have about them, and so restore, in a virtual sense, that element of humanity's legacy.
