We finally got the Christmas tree down today. (Artificial, natch — by this time, a real tree would have been compost.) There are still table surfaces covered with ornaments to be put away, ditto the dining room table with various Christmas decor … but the tree is down and put away in the basement.

I take my small triumphs where I can get them.

  1. Well if it makes you feel any better the first year I was in my apartment I never took my tree down. Moved in at the start of December, bought a new tree and put it up, and never got around to taking it down after Christmas. Of course my job at the time involved a lot of travel and I was gone most of the time, but I did leave the tree up all year and used it as a night light on occasion.

But that was only one year and my (now) wife made me promise I’d never do it again.
