Went to the Arvada Center last night for a production of Moliere's 17th Century classic farce, Tartuffe. In an era of gullibility, division, and religious frauds (and when isn't?), it's a fitting production, and was far funnier than a four hundred year old play (even with a modern English translation from the 60s and further updates for today) has any right to be.
The Arvada Center, northwest of Denver, does some excellent theater, and for significantly more reasonable prices than the big stuff downtown. This production was in their Black Box, so we got to sit literally inches, in some cases, from the actors.
Good stuff, with some very fine actors: Michael Morgan as Tartuffe (channeling Tim Curry beautifully), Sam Gregory as Orgon, and, Kate Gleason as Elmire, and a thoroughly competent rest of the cast.
A very pleasant evening.
