The Willful Ignorance of the President-to-Be

I get it. Donald Trump is a busy man. He's got victory rallies to go to. He has tweets to make. He has interviews with billionaires and generals to hold. He has business deals to wheel. He's Executive Producer for the New Celebrity Apprentice TV show.

But you'd really think that the guy who's going to be the President of the United States would peel off some time more often than once a week to learn about what's really going on in the world beyond what shows up on Breitbart and Fox News and Twitter. I mean, even George W. Bush managed more than that.

Or maybe Trump just doesn't trust the US intelligence (which is now trying to tell him, its seems, that his good friends in Russia worked to throw the election in his favor). Which raises the question of where he's going to get information over the next four years.

Or maybe it doesn't matter, to Trump at least. It seems that Mike Pence is attending these meetings. So maybe Trump just plans on letting Pence and his not-quite-yet-named Secretary of State take care of all that foreigner stuff. That, in and of itself, is more than a bit alarming, but, y'know, a good executive learns how to delegate stuff so that he can provide the vision and mission and sign the annual report and all that jazz. And there are always more rallies to attend, amirite?

  1. Ah. He doesn't need daily briefings because (a) he is smart, (b) he manages by exception, and (c) he has Pence and his "generals" keeping their eye on the ball, so why should he be bored bothered with hearing stuff day after day after day?
