Very cool article of postcards and matchbook covers showing glorious resorts in the Poconos and Catskills, and the abandoned ruins there today.
I’m always fascinated (in a sad way) how things go to ruin over time.

The transformation of these Poconos and Catskills resorts is like looking through some sort of dystopian View-Master.
+Petrona Dragon might find this interesting.
It's also a great metaphor for what happens to us as well. 😐
+John Bump I've been to all of those. Penn Hills burned down recently. 🙁
I should have figured: you've done a ton of exploring.
My mom was a teacher and worked summer service jobs in the Pocono resorts during their heyday. The extra money was good, she had some access to the facilities in her off hours, and she met a variety of interesting celebrities and other VIPs.
She was mostly philosophical about changes that come with the passage of time, but I think the loss and waste and melancholy captured here would have weighed heavy on her.
