Well, the TV show at least — the book series by Erle Stanley Gardner is quite a bit older. Perry Mason is such a rerun institution that people today forget how significant it was at the time — top rated for several seasons, based on one of the most popular book series of all time, and the first hour-long crime drama on TV. I always enjoy watching it when I run across it — it’s formulaic, but still fun.
