Vox Tyrannus

Hey, Donald — you know who calls individuals or institutions "ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE"?

Tyrants.

No, really. It's classic authoritarian, autocratic rhetoric, spewed against enemies of those in power by every dictatorial power from the Nazis to the Commies, from Goebbels to Stalin to Mao to Pol Pot to Idi Amin to every dictator, noteworthy or tinpot.

It is, almost literally, an un-American thing to say.

And it's a prime example of what you'll be remembered for.

This isn't to say that you cannot criticize the NYT (et al.), or deny what they report, or even express your irk at their reporting. But using the rhetoric of dictators and tyrants — well, if you choose to assert the shoe fits …

  1. You know that thing that people do, the one where they hate something about themselves and so they assign that label to others – the lazy person accuses others of laziness, the malicious accuses them of malice, the fool accuses them of foolishness?

    Half of this is that.

The other half is waving the red cape again, sending the public bull careening into the stands and blaming the damage on the victims and first responders.

The third half, because the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, is emulating the behavior of preceding conquerors, while giving no mind to the precedent effects or outcomes. In short, seeking the approval of history for one's own violent, virulent impulses.

Trump is not a man. He is a parody of a man, an angry, unloved child clamoring for more, more, more – more attention, more positive regard, and, in the insufficiency of those things, more power to hurt those who don't support him unconditionally.

  2. If, as you post, a Tyrant, then he’s a terrible one. As you also wrote about other communist and fascist regimes that accuse someone or an entity of being an enemy of the people, then he’s the worst tyrant ever! If he was a tyrant or dictator, then he wouldn’t have lost the house (thank you dems for ballot mining).
But, if you believe that the main stream media and news isn’t an enemy, then, I suggest you ask them or demand of them to: 1) Stop quoting “anonymous” sources, 2) stop sighting single sources for facts/data 3) Stop using Twitter as a source-see current Jesse Smollett and 4) just report the news, don’t set the agenda.
    Simple enough.
