Micro Concert? Not understanding.
Heck I find that the addition of the God Bless America to the seventh inning to be distasteful and yet another reason to keep seated.
A one-song performance, in which the singer’s ability to hit the highs, lows, descant, and vamping around the edge of the tune, trumps any, y’know, actual singing of the National Anthem.
Give me some who sings the melody well and the words clearly. If you want to show off your musical gymnastics, do it on your own time. It’s distracting, it’s unnecessary, and it makes the National Anthem about *you*, not about, you know, the nation.
(Though, again, I ask, semi-rhetorically, why we sing the National Anthem at sporting events.)
