So the question of the hour (or, probably, a question to be discussed this week) is whether or not to do the Brew at the Zoo again this year, coming up 10 September. Last year’s event was disappointing in terms of crowds, wait times, and food/drink running out.
Prices are higher this year — $60 for members vs. $45 (what I noted) last year.
I also note there’s a higher “preview” tier which gets you in earlier. (Is that why some of the booths ran out last time?)
So … my inclination is, sadly, to give it a pass, though I’m willing to hear counter-arguments from the local contingent. And, alas, our busy summer to date meant we missed the more enjoyable Do at the Zoo back in June.
Well, let’s see:
The GABF is the week after the Brew at the Zoo, costs $55, 462 Breweries, 2,238 beers. No food, large crowds, tons of bathrooms, no lines, no beer running out ever.
Vs. $65 to $85 for 40 breweries, ungodly amount of crowds, beer and food running out an hour after opening, limited bathrooms and long lines.
Sadly I’ll give it a pass, and IMHO the Denver Zoo has completetly missed the point of the event, and to me it looks like the upping of the price $15 is the way they decided to limit the crowds, instead of limiting the amounts of ticket sales. That and the “preview” tickets are irksome since it appears that the Zoo is saying “Hey, because we have absolutetly no way to control/limit our ticket sales, we will sell you an $85 ticket to give you an hour to have beer and food before the unwashed hoards crash the gates and eat everything.”
Maybe we ought to schedule a get-together at the GABF …
