Anybody who grew up in the 70s remembers the popularity of Erich von Däniken, whose pseudo-science books like Chariots of the Gods? posited the theory that aliens were responsible for things like the Pyramids of Giza, Macchu Pichu, the lines at Nazca, Stonehenge, etc.
Now in answer to the deepest, most mysterious question — isn’t he dead? — comes the grand opening to Mystery Park, a funtastic Swiss tribute to Erich and his zany ideas.
After a six-year planning and building period, the Mystery Park in Interlaken opens its gates on 24 May 2003. Based on the ideas of best-selling author Erich von Däniken, the mystery and educational theme park presents the mysteries of past cultures and wants visitors to learn the meaning of astonishment.
On a site covering 100,000m2 , the Mystery Park presents the great mysteries of past cultures in seven theme pavilions encircling the central building. The general public will be able to experience the Cheops Pyramid in Egypt, Vimanas in India, giant runway-like strips and animal figures etched in the earth at Nazca, Peru, the mighty menhirs at English Stonehenge and the Mayan Pyramids of Central America together in one location in the heart of Europe. “The Mystery Park will not provide answers” stresses Erich von Däniken again and again. Using state-of-the-art communication technology, visitors should rather be stimulated to pose questions, learn the meaning of astonishment and be lured away from real life for a few hours.
Not only that, but there’s a cool Swatch store, too!
Amaze your friends! Appall the stodgy scientific establishment! Visit Mystery Park today!
