Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Crisis on Infinite Reboots: The Commercial – Hmmmmmmm. A lot of legitimate criticism here, though I thought the video (as an existing comic book reader) was kind of cool.
- Mailifest Destiny: U.S. expansion visualized as post offices – That’s very cool.
- Parents in 1991 got mad about having to buy the SNES – Heh.
- AMERICAblog News: Fox News: Is Warren Buffet a socialist? – Yes, Warren Buffet is clearly a major socialist. And three out of four people in this Fox “news”cast are dolts.
- ‘Hysteria’ Trailer: Maggie Gyllenhaal and the Invention of the Vibrator – Heh.
- Fanbois treat criticism of favorite brands as threat to self-image – Humans are social, and tribal. I’m not at all surprised by this, and it’s a similar phenomenon to other group identifications — sports teams, schools, political parties, religions, ethnicities, nationality … Which isn’t to say that there might not be legitimate and rational reasons for preferring one brand over another, but our associational emotions get in the way of that rationality.
- Happy Birthday, Julie Newmar – Meow!
- Research: Tea Party’s Growing Unpopularity Traced To Infusing Politics With Religion – I sure hope that’s so.
- Why Half of Americans Pay No Income Tax: It’s the Subsistence, Stupid – Are there no workhouses?
- Mythbusters: debunking the claim that fuel economy standards ‘kill people’ – Not that debunking it will stop it from being repeated by those who profit from doing so.
