Not that I expect Frank Luntz to offer any substantive economic policy suggestions, but his recommendations for the GOP in dealing with the Occupy movement and its growing effect on the political / economic debate in the US is … change the language you use.
So, if people don't trust the GOP to protect the "middle class," don't use that term, just call them "hardworking taxpayers." If people are beginning to consider "capitalism" as an immoral system, then don't use the word. If people are beginning to resent the word "bonus" then call it "pay for performance" instead. And be sure people know you "get it" and "hear it" without actually promising to do anything about it.
In other words, it's not about policy, it's about advertising. Which is what guys like Luntz sell. #ddtb
