How cool is it that I can be sitting at work, using a computer to tell a DVR at home to record the Doctor Who Christmas Special that I would otherwise miss because I won't be at home on the 25th? I mean, there's four or five or six layers of technological AWESOME there.
Heck, it's even a decent trade for jetpacks, as far as I'm concerned. #ddtb
I'm still waiting for jetpacks, though….
Oh, I certainly wouldn't turn down a jetpack, mind you. Or my flying car.
I will certainly be home between now and the 25th … but the cool thing is that, as soon as I'm reminded of it by some stray event, I can do it right then, rather than trying to remember, or scribbling myself a note. Heck, I could have made it even more awesome by doing it from my smartphone …
“hmmmm… you aren’t going to be home between now and the 25th? 😉 You must use remote programming to do this? :-)”
The problem for me is that if I don’t set the DVR as soon as I learn of an upcoming show, I won’t remember to do it when I’m in front of the TV. Besides, it’s just cool to be able to do stuff remotely. Still not as cool as holodecks, though.
@Avo – Yup, that exactly.

But yes, it is pretty cool. I've used it to program my TiVo when I notice something is going to be on that evening and I wouldn't have time to make it home to watch.
Still … I'd like a jetpack, too.
