  1. I always thought of the "liberal media bias" as a marketing ploy that started with conservative newspapers and moved to Fox news.  The implication has always seemed to be the following: "We are not biased conservative, you just can't trust anyone else because they are all liberal."

  2. I'm pretty sure the "liberal media bias" thing came about by, well, people watching the evening news and drawing their own conclusions.

    A prime example being the ABC/Brian Ross bit of "journalism".
