As I posted something about #NaNoWriMo, I realized its official coat of arms is topped with a Viking helm. Just like I wore to the office today as a "costume".
So here's to you, NaNos! May the fortitude of Thor, the vision of Odin, and the clever glibness of Loki be with you for the next month!

Hoist that cup o' mead high, ye Skeptical Viking!
Great costume, +Mark Means! (or is it a costume?) 🙂
Skeptical Viking is Skeptical. Also, drinking peppermint tea. (Ssshhhh!)
I figured I needed to have the mug because there's one in the logo, too. If I had been really creative and/or had much longer arms, I could have gotten a computer and a couple of pens, too.
That's between my and my barber +The Bruce, Mile High 😉
+Dave Hill Now I'm skeptical…
Of course that's a "viking helmet", meaning an ahistorical meme now used to symbolize vikings, but never actually used by vikings 😉
This is more like the real thing: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/bf/Vikinghjelm%2C_Gjermundbu.jpg/220px-Vikinghjelm%2C_Gjermundbu.jpg
Yeah, I'd intended to mention that later, esp in context of how awkward it was wearing it on the train, but forgot.
The reasons for the lack of horns on real war-helmets becomes immediately apparent, I'd wager. Of course, the real type of helmet is much less friendly-looking.
As in "The horns make the helm over weighted, unbalanced, clumsy, and prone to snagging on anything low-hanging"? No, hadn't noticed.
Also gives an opponent a convenient handle on your head, either to remove the helmet or to hold your head still for the chop 😀
Now, that's customer service!
