The parents are back off to California this morning. It’s been a very busy four or five days, complete with (since I last wrote) a trip to the zoo (the simple pleasures are sometimes the best ones) and Kitten’s First Dinner at Le Central.
It all wrapped up last night with a big dinner bash. We had our pastor and his wife over, something we’ve been meaning to do for some time, and something I thought my folks would get a kick from, too. A good time was had by all, aided by some very nice wine and some typically fabulous food via Margie.
As with all such visits, it was disruptive — normal household routines interrupted, no or little night-time e-mail or writing or blogging, TV schedules all wonky. On the other hand, it was great having the folks here, sharing in person (versus here) what’s going on in our lives.
Katherine just loved them (and their attention) to pieces, even if she had problems shifting from the Swedish “Mormor and Morfar” to the Italian “Nona and Nono.” I think she’s going to really miss them, but I’m also feeling more comfortable about fobbing her off on them for our England trip in February.
It will be kind of nice, and kind of sad, to get back home to the normal routine tonight. And I guess that’s a sign it was a successful visit.
She does indead miss them. Tears were shed at the airport and much wimpering to and fro.
Aw. Poor Kitten.
