Last surviving member of Trapp Family Singers dies at 99
+The Associated Press: Maria Franziska von Trapp, the last surviving member of the original Trapp Family Singers that inspired “The Sound of Music,” died this week at 99, her family confirmed.
The von Trapp family was made famous for their singing after escaping Nazi-occupied Austria in 1938. Maria von Trapp was the second-oldest daughter of Georg von Trapp and his first wife. In the musical and film “The Sound of Music,” Maria was portrayed as Louisa.
The singer died in her home in Vermont.
