On "Ant-Man" and creative control

Bottom line: Marvel's movies are like Marvel's comics, which means you're not creating in your own sandbox but in somebody else's, and it's editorial's job to make sure what's being put out there fits the overall tone and mode of the rest of the creative line.

That may mean the product is not as good or unique or stylish or memorable or quirky as a true indie creation (in comics or on the silver screen), but it also means that Marvel will be doing just what the fans have been asking for: creating a coherent universe of cross-overs and interlinking plots and stories and characters that feel like they more or less fit with each other.
