That does seem to be the lesson we're all learning. Either companies and governmental agencies will need to seriously up their security game (assuming they haven't), or will need to forego the incredible power of Internet access (unlikely), or we'll all just have to assume a degree of lack of privacy about a variety of information.
The more interesting question to me is how we, as a society, deal with that last prospect.
