I like John Kerry best.
And Howard Dean, after him.
Then John Edwards.
And I even like Kucinich and (gack!) Sharpton significantly better than I like Bush.
At least according to this quiz.
The problems with this quiz, though, are multitude:
- The most tremendous problem is the apparent assumption that each of the subject areas, and each of the questions within each subject area, should be weighted equally. My feelings on welfare reform or ANWR drilling pale in importance vs. my feelings on, say, the War in Iraq.
- The phrasing of the questions in some cases is dubious (e.g., “Federal funding for religious charities,” when the issue is whether religous charities should be allowed to seek federal grants alongside non-religious charities).
- “No Opinion” may be “Mixed Feelings” or “Depends on the Implementation.” Those are nuances beyond this quiz, but they are important ones.
- And, of course, there are imponderables about the candidates, or feelings about their personalities, beyond what position bullet points would indicate.
Not to say that the test is biased in any way (though the second bullet point makes me think it’s got a slant to it), but it would be interesting to see if there is a balance in GOP vs Dem policy points (and to debate whether there should be). Without weighting, though, the quiz is next to useless.
Thus, your mileage may vary.

Coming from the leftwing of the center party…
Kucinich (100%) But I already knew that.
Sharpton (83%) Shocked.
Kerry (83%) Also shocked.
Dean (83%) Who I was supporting
Edwards (75%) Thought that he would be a little higher.
I found the big 83% tie a little odd.
ARRRGGGHHHh!
The stupid Quizos rat Commercial just came on. Please make it stop! Just trying to enjoy News Radio, and the stupid rats are on.
Sorry, just distracted a for a minute.
I haven’t peeked at this one, but it sounds like the one written to slant folks toward Kucinich.
Found this all rather interesting. I consider myself more of an Edwards supporter than Kerry. I’d also rather poke my eyes out with a sharp stick than vote for Kucinich….well…I guess ABB is the way I’m headed but still…
Considering Colorado’s lack of real voice in the Primaries, it doesn’t really matter who I support until November.
Kerry Score: 100%
Dean Score: 97%
Kucinich Score: 94%
Sharpton Score: 89%
Edwards Score: 89%
Kucinich :100%
Kerry :93%
Dean:90%
Sharpton:85%
Edwards:80%
Bush:17%
Doesn’t suprise me, but then I’m a political mixture. But it goes to show that you need to know what the guy you think you support really stands for.
Or what positions he’s on the record as supporting. Or the interpretation of that record by quiz-makers.
