I definitely think all of my staff should review this book and brush up on their technical background. The only question is, should I point them at the 1971 or 1979 edition?

Dave, have you read “The Pattern on the Stone,” by Daniel Hillis? It’s great. Hillis basically designed the first massively parallel computer, and he’s a really interesting character. In this book he describes the very fundamentals of how computers work in a very interesting way, even if you know a lot about computers. I highly recommend it.
Good gravy, I was going to recommend “Pattern on the Stone” as well! I give that one to non-technical folks who ask me “How does a computer work?”.
It’s an excellent work, very brief, but covers (I think) all the basics. Exellent writing. I wish Hillis would do more along these lines.
Okay, I’ll put it on my list …
