The founder of our company passed away yesterday. I’m sorry to see him go. Back when I was doing desktop support, I used to get calls from his secretary for technical assistance (this was back in the 286/DeskJet/Word3.0 days), and would have occasion to chat with him. In later years, I would still, on visiting the Pasadena office, run into him on the elevator, an elderly, diminutive gent in a suit and bow tie. A nice guy. His influence on the firm has been indirect but still distinct since his retirement, both in the culture he promulgated and in just his presence. He’ll be missed.
