Got a fair amount of time in yesterday with our top-level alts. Velvet assisted P-Siren on her cape mission, along with Puck Bunny. Interestingly, the final battle in that door mish seems to be at a variable location (rather than in the far south of Talos Island, like it was for Velvet, this one was by the Green Line station in Steel, which was a lot more convenient).
Velvet managed to ding 22 on that outing.
After, we brought in (again to run with Puck Bunny) Psi-clone and Amorpha. Jackie’s Shock.Therapy ran with us for most of the time, though it was all taking place right about when we had to deal with various Kitten meal and bed time issues. Eventually Agent Seven showed up, which made for some nice RP fodder.
Ended up doing two duplicate Tsoo missions (and PC ended up pulling it again for himself as he checked in with contacts after it was all over). The building missions went fairly well, despite a couple of rushing-in-oops-there-goes-the-invis face plants. (Well, the Tsoo in the Cave mish was pretty nasty, but that was largely because we didn’t play it well, and it’s a nasty map, and there were some system problems in the middle that broke up the team, but not completely). PC dinged during the evening as well, but he (like Velvet) is in the late teens/early twenties doldrums, where the Stamina and Haste tracks are chewing up slots from more interesting powers.
Actually, by hitting 20, Psi-clone now qualifies for a new outfit. Should he go for a more formal black business suit to replace his sports coat? Or will the PR department decides that he needs a more “heroic” (Spandex) image? Time will tell.
One interesting development was Margie beginning to consider some new alts to play, and prepping to drop a couple of her old ones to free up slots. As I have business travel coming up next week, I think she’s targeting that period for some quick levelling to come up with new partners for OFFICER and Truly Unstable. I have some thoughts in that direction as well (including dropping one character who’s seen some heavy rotation of late, and possibly rehabilitating another one who’s stagnated). Again, we’ll see …
Yes…Puck was very happy to ding 19th. Hopefully by the end of the week she can get to 20th, and a “modist” costume (one that a cape would look good on).
I think a cape would look fine on PB’s costume. Indeed, it’s one of the better costumes I’ve seen out there (at least compared to some that gallumphed past us last night).
So, who would you get rid of? You seem to play most of your alts now, except Sister Chinook.
I love Sister Chinook’s looks, but I dislike the ice controller power set (at least at the single-digit — heh — levels). She’s long been on the hit list.
Selene, too. For whatever reason, the claws/regen scrapper combo just didn’t grab me. As one of my very first characters, it may well be that I need to simply re-do her (I am not necessarily averse to the combo, and have a couple of other scrappers, albeit at low levels).
And, in fact, I’m seriously considering retiring Honeygun. Fact is, I’m not much caring for the AR/Dev blaster combo, and I fear my multiple “failures in the cave” may be tainting my view of her. Especially since, for blasty goodness, I like Torchielle a lot better. She’s probably the last one I’d drop, though, since I have so much invested in her.
So keepers are Velvet, Psi-clone, Torchielle, Truly Unstable, and OFFICER. The other slots are currently up for grabs.
hmmm….Really? Honeygun?!? Wow!
But yeah, there is a reason why I never had an interest in that group of powersets.
Right now, I love both the Dark/Dark Scapper set, and the Dark/Dark defender set. Though, it is very annoying to go out on missions, and hear “can we get a non-crappy defender”. They seem to love that he does big heals, but not love the fact that they are attacks. Oh, well.
Yeah, hard to believe with HG, but there you go. It’s been a struggle with her, as I wait to enjoy the powerset more and, ultimately, don’t. The AR powers have slow animations and annoyingly choppy sounds, the targeting drone could drive one mad, MAD, I TELL YOU, and stealth slows me down to a crawl.
The one thing I’ve been looking forward to at 16 is Super Speed, to see how that works. None of the other A-list characters are slotted for that.
I dunno. No death sentence yet. But she’s definitely on the hit list …
Ahh yes, Super Speed.
I always find it funny that the folks that the Bas’ teleport the most are super speeders.
Avoid Sky, Boom, Fault, and the Hollows…
And the targeting drone…Yes…but at least the rest of us can move away from *you* and it.
One thing that I’ve found is that all of my Alts are able to solo except Puck. And she is the funnest to RP. I’ve started to be a lot more like Patriot One, talking and not doing missions.
One the other hand she rocks as a part of a team mission. When she gets to 20th and the Big Bubble, she will be able to do more soloing I would think.
SS seems to work better in some environments than others. One of the appeals for HG was coupling it with Stealth to be effectively invisible.
(Stealth is great, until you reach its limitations. Just as Invis is great until you realize that certain of what Margie calls “Bite me” powers will still draw attention, as both you and Jackie have discovered.)
I’ve actually been toying with the idea of someone with, coincidentally, the same power set as PB. Which, now that I realize it, I won’t be able to do. 🙂
For myself, I’ve discovered that I enjoy most folks who are safe in conjiunction with others. Velvet is safe because she’s nigh-invulnerable (but slow to take down baddies without support from others). PC is a controller, so he’s usually safe, and can heal. Torchielle’s Energy secondary is a great stand-off (and a further differentiator from HG). TU can heal …
While I have a couple of scrappers, I don’t know as I’m that much of a scrapper personality. Unlike Margie, who enjoys scrappers, offenders, and blasters to my more stodgy “safe” ATs.
