Okay, I’ll admit that Psi-clone is a Deceive junky. It’s never-ending fun for him to tweak with the baddies’ brains, especially when it means that they’re busy attacking their friends, or (with Tsoo Sorcerers) actually healing people on your side.
But best thing going yet … started fighting with Sky Raiders tonight. Discovered that when a group is attacked, an Engineer in the group immediately sets up a Force Field generator for a Dispersion bubble.
Except, if Psi-clone turns him first, not only does the guy still do it, but the bubble works on behalf of the heroes — as long as the Engineer stays Deceived. Yeah!
Hey, look, Ma! I’m a Bubbler! By proxy!
(Actually, it’s also kind of funny to see the guy build an FF generator, and then immediately attack it.)
Now that is excellent! I always target the Engineers first. It turns out that Sniper Blast takes too long; if they’ve seen us the FFG will be active before SB hits him. Even when I take out the Engineer in time, I usually find them bubbled anyway; it seems there’s often a second Engineer around the corner who gets to work as soon as I attack.
Will your Invisibility power work to keep the Engineer alive throughout combat, allowing you to remain bubbled until the end of the fight?
Actually Avo, it worked like this:
First, Psi would deceive the engineer
Second, Amorpha and Zazi would go in and kick butt.
Third, we would take out the Engineer last (unless the other skyraiders nailed him first).
Also
Just as BD described it, except that, when possible, I’d Group Invis first (though my Deceive was beyond his perception range).
But it’s critical to wait until the Deceive is in effect (and, if possible, for the FFG to be up and running). At least once someone hit the Engineer during the Deceive; he stayed Deceived, but never built the FFG.
Another oddity. The FFG stays in place (in this scenario, at least) until the Engineer gets gakked. Then, if there are other baddies available, it will hover over to them. I don’t know if the FFG normally moves with the Engineer, but since he’s “turned,” his control of it is mixed to say the least.
Our tactical scenario needs some work, though — what should happen is everyone gathering at the FFG; instead, the Sky Raider Dispersion Bubble is relatively small (compared to, say, P-Siren’s), and so too much of the melee was taking place outside the bubble.
SInce the skyraider all had range weapons, it was difficult to pull them into the bubble.
Mmmm. Good point. And we didn’t have any taunts.
