Lynntime

Margie was busy with building a new character (Hildegard, a replacement for Ebon Maze) as well as testing some respec changes on Amorpha in anticipation of I5, so I spent the afternoon and evening play sessions with Lynn Calodo.
Despite being only an Ally, I had little trouble finding folks who were interested in my help by, well, asking if anyone was. That included getting SKed way over my level (from 13 to 25 or so), which was fun except for the whole Lack of Travel Powers to Get Across IP thing.
Still, had fun, and managed to ding Lynn all the way from just into 13 to 6 pips into 14 (and now I can actually Travel via Super Jump, so I’m a happy camper).
Let me think: afternoon was teaming with Caledonian and Darkest-Nite. Evening was teaming with Steel Giant, briefly with Callypsa, then later with Chaos Girl and Tejavo (?).
Endless slog against Devouring Earth, though, the last mission running at least 2 hours of non-stop punching against orange, red, and purple DEs. At that, I think I was still useful.
Avoided the copious open chat on Noelle being kidnapped (I’ll leave the irony of that event’s timing for the conspiracy-minded out there). Preferred the light RP of our own sessions. And the XP, of course.
Lynn’s doing great in her role as my “unpartnered alt” for when Margie’s otherwise busy. Only died once yesterday, and that whilst soloing — as with most scrappers, she can be unexpectedly fragile sometimes. But still fun to play and team with, even though I’ve now seen Lesser Devoured a lot closer than I ever have with Psi-clone.

  1. *sigh*
I wish that I had been able to avoid the Noelle thing.
Sadly Puck had a clue…because she was the last person to see Noelle before she kidnapped.
Because Puck was the only officer on until 8:00pm MDT, all the Phalanxers started “telling” her in the middle of a mission asking if they could kill the kidnapper. So…spent the entire mission standing and typing….yay! Told them to stand down and let me consult with Straty…who thankfully came on and did a more diplomatic version of what Puck said.
On the plus side….all of the debt that Puck is carrying has allowed her to make 1 million in influence in 5 bubbles of advancement. *sigh*

  2. Hrm. I’d think the answer to the question “if they could kill the kidnapper” would be obvious, even without having followed the thread along any.
On the other hand, in my group, most of the chatter regarding the CC stuff was (a) I hope Noelle is rescued, and (b) Reese sure is a dick. So it wasn’t a complete loss. Even though, as an Ally, and as someone recently inducted in by Reese, Lynn felt compelled to support him some.

  3. Being unaffiliated and then on test, I missed the whole thing. On a brighter note I did a small respec on Amorpha and I think she is ready for I5. (Swapped out Dark Consuption for Resilliance and Pushed back Instant Healing for Reconstruction.) Played well on test, felt a lot less edge of the seat with the self heal click vs the increase heal rate click.
Puck – are there any old TF’s that you are missing? Kazima did the did the whole positron TF on nothing but influence and getting rid of debt that the auto-exempt ambush bug caused.
I would be happy to run one with you. Amorpha needs moonfire still.

  4. Ah, yes, that auto-exemp ambush bug. Nothing like being trapped without a travel power in Atlas running an errand for Positron while your friends are getting massacred (multiple times) in Steel. Then, once you get there, being a real fumble-fingers with the Recall Friend.
Good thoughts to drag that Spectral over to the Perez gate and the police bots. I’m really surprised the devs haven’t fixed that one.

  5. Avocet’s going to be involved in the whole Spade Fearra story arc because Inferiority’s player and I share a love of old films (and Ingrid Bergman >sigh

  6. Will do, Avo.
The Spade Fearra bit looked kind of interesting (if I were into big things like that — RL + Many Alts = limited capacity for such), though it was (cough) sort of filling up the ol’ CC last night. I decided not to complain, though I did see at least one request for help go both unmet and unacknowledged. :-/

  7. Ummm….
I counted at least ten over the afternoon and evening.
I did my best dropping out of my own missions with Puck and Zazi to aid when I could. But I felt sorry for the folks that I couldn’t help because I was already helping others.

  8. While I left the CC window open, my eyes stopped seeing it after a very short time. I scrolled back after my mish to spot the one I did.
    Hrm.

  9. Hey all. Finally got up the gumption to sign in here, because I’m curious about folks’ reaction to the House of Cards thing. I really didn’t intend to be pulled in so deeply, but figured I’d go along with it when it happened on Sunday, and it works with my not being around in game until next week (crazy busy, and then lovely long weekend at the beach).
So, what’s people’s thoughts? Is it too much, or is just that the CC is getting monopolized by the storyline?

  10. Hey, Noelle. This is a no-gumption-needed zone. Comment away, and glad t’see ya …
I can’t speak to how things looked last night — Margie and I were running new characters not in the Alliance yet — but the night before … yeah, it seemed to be getting a bit hot and heavy, and, as I noted, I saw at least one for help that went not only unmet (which happens), but unacknowledged (which shouldn’t, IMO).
I was perhaps a bit sensitized to it because, by wild coincidence, the Alliance leadership is close to concluding voting on CC guidelines, which, if anyone chose to complain, would give them an organized avenue for doing so.
I think it’s a cool idea as an “event,” but I wish there was an alternative to using the CC to make it happen after the first kickoff.

  11. Lastnight was a lot better because those that wanted to be involved were. Most pleas for aid were at least acknowledged.
So far it seems like a great big game of grapevine…all sorts of interesting lies were being tossed around last night. Puck will be very angry if she hears Reese making the accusations that he was making last night.

  12. What was he saying, what was he saying? I’m so curious as to what’s going on in-game, because I’m not actually there.

  13. Oh…
    Well…
    Yeppers Dave!
Oh…yeah. Reese continued his job of making folks in the alliance happy, by inducting l33t H4XXor into the Allies. Everyone was soooooo happy about that.
    Noelle.
Mostly that the Phalanx sucks because they have 70 members and none of the came to his aid. That Puck refused to aid him ((hello….off channel…doing missions…shopping…completely unaware of what was going on until Noelle said that she was going to help him)). So if he starts to repeat that bull tonight, Puck will most like blow a gasket.
The rest was meetings of the Knight’s which seemed to leave several of the members fussy afterwords.
A mission(s) involving tracking down clues of Noelle’s whereabouts ((invite only…so no clue what happened there)).

  14. Trouble a-brewin’. I’m waiting for someone to propose the obvious step here (not regarding you, Noelle).

  15. OK, I guess I’m wondering — was it IC stuff, or is it beyond that? OOC people are sick and tired of Reese? Because if Noelle’s going to be the cause of all this trouble, I’ll have her activiate the little hospital beacon Seven gave her and go to the hospital, and everyone can be friends again, as much as that’s possible.
Otherwise, I think Inferority was coordinating some really cool ideas for his storyline.

  16. No, no, no, Noelle, nothing to do with you, no trouble you’re causing, nothing like that. Nor, for that matter, Inferiority.

  17. Yeah…
No worries Noelle. I think you and Infy are cool and the plot seems to be keeping the folks involved entertained. I get a feeling Reese is tossing stones at windows again and upsetting the overall leadership again.
So, stay cool…do your work, and get ready for another weekend in the sun.

  18. Got it. I understand, and thanks. If part of the reason that I said I’d do this wasn’t because I knew I’d have a hard time getting online for the next week, I’d roll up an alt and beg for an invite to a SG, just to hear the CC!

  19. Oh…
If you have unifilliated Alts Noelle, the CoJ is quite welcoming to those in need of a home.

  20. Alts? What are these “alts” you speak of?
    🙂
I don’t even have time to play Noelle as often as I’d like! Silly roommate hogging the gaming computer, just because it’s his. Grrrr…

  21. Nicely slipped in there, BD. Maybe we should make you an officer in the CoJ. 🙂
Noelle, you’d be quite pleased by how alarmed and unhappy a number of heroes I’ve encountered have been over your kidnapping.

  22. Dave, A bit off funny.
Zazi was asked why she is not on during the week. I told the person asking the question that since Psi-clone and Amropha are having thermostat warfare, she has been volenteering her off hours in the office as well as going to school.
*Snort* Zazi an officer…that way she can yell baka at people and mean it. 🙂
