Storm Knights

A few weeks back we were chatting with Mal and working with him to set up a Kheldian in the Consortium. Somehow the subject of reciprocating came up, and we ended up planning on Fazenda and Araware joining the Storm Knights.
Which, last night, they did, with a fun interview by Mal and Silver-Streak. I wanted to wait until we dinged 10 (and so were “serious” superheroes), and then things were delayed further by our applications getting lost in the Great Forum Crash of September 2005. But we finally got it all in place, and now we’re Storm Knights.
It’s kind of weird. Most of our characters are in the CoJ, which means we can be as negligent of them as we want to be (except PS/A, whom I feel obliged to trot out, at a minimum, every couple of days). Velvet and PC are in the FP, but they were our first characters, and it’s such a large group and they’ve been around long enough that they just feel like part of the background, and if they don’t come out often, it’s not a big deal. Lynn is in the Allies, but, well, they’re a non-group, right?
But now we have SG Obligations with another set of production characters. So I expect over the next few evenings we’ll be playing them relatively heavily, to establish our presence in the group (and Alliance), and will keep them in moderate rotation for a the forseeable future.
(I was … mildly dismayed by the relative lack of response, as a “newbie” in the group, to our arrival on comms. I made a particular effort with F. to say hi to everyone as they came along, toss in a few comments here and there, etc. I got one “hi” back, from Will, and a very nice set of private tells from Kin, but aside from that I might as well have been running hidden.
It’s an interesting, somewhat disturbing perspective. Next up, a request for help.

  1. Fun…
Yep…The Storm Knight’s are in a tie for second as my most fave SG. So many of the ‘Toons are cool and fun to be around (as well as the Players :).
So, congradulations on you two becoming Storm Knights!
    Huzzah!

  2. Welcome to the Knights!
Sorry I wasn’t around to welcome you, but I’d be delighted to send off a proper greeting the first time I hear you on the Supergroup channel!
There’s been a fun recent recruitment drive that I’ve noticed with the Knights, and a lot of new, lower level characters, so hopefully you’ll have some good people to hang out with.

  3. Most of the Storm Knights are very nice folks. Also, The Baron is very good (at least in my experiences) with teaming within the SG. He’ll, at the very least, let you know that there are no spots for mentor/sk, instead of just leaving you hanging out there. If you ever need anything, and Dr. Rune is on, let me know. Welcome aboard!

  4. Interesting. The Storm Knights are toward the bottom of my list of favorite SGs. Of course, I’ve only met about three of them. They don’t seem particularly friendly to outsiders, though. Or maybe it’s just me that they aren’t particularly friendly to. That could be it, I suppose.
Anyway, I hope you’ll find it a good fit! Keep us posted on life as a Storm Knight.

  5. Well..Storm Knights that I have met and liked (in order of Remembering):
    Malcalypse
    Baron Rufus
    Kessa
    Noelle Frost
    Silver Streak
    Sinewave
The Fencing Muse (too. Damn. Funny)
    Chilljoy
    Darkneutron
    Mal Bot
    Hang Bot
    Kin Bot
And Mavra is odd enough to be amusing.
And all of the SG’s are very good about Sk/Ex’ing and are an example for the rest of us.

  6. Well, hey there, Bill! Look who decided to join the party!
    *grins*
Anyway, Avo, I’d be happy to try to change your perception of the Knights, as would, I’m sure, just about any of us. I do think that yes, our first inclination is often to find other Knights to team with, but we’re more than happy about working with other heroes.
Oh, and I had fun being “drunk” and greeting Fazenda and Araware last night!

  7. *waves to ktbuffy*
    Hey there,
I’m usually around…more in observer mode than anything 🙂

  8. Well, we had a nice chat with Noelle and Blessed last night when I finally got signed in after rehearsal. We pondered whether to go to the party, but were feeling more in a “go and hit things” mode (and the GoH took off shortly thereafter anyway). Actually, a fair amount of /sg traffic there.
I do hope to get in some teaming with other SKts, perhaps this weekend.
And, to be honest, I didn’t know anyone off the top of head as a SKt before I joined except Mal. And he’s always been so much fun to team with that it was a no-brainer.

  9. Oh, Noelle and Dr. Rune are Storm Knights? Okay, that’s two I like, though I haven’t teamed with either extensively. Mal I was grouped with once, I think. He seemed nice, but mostly just frighteningly competent. (I was still fairly new to the Alliance then, and he seemed a bit intimidating.) There’s only one other Avo’s interacted with to any degree, and I don’t care to discuss it.

  10. Mal is Psi-clone’s — well, not hero, but the guy he looks forward to having powers like (and exercise as well as) …

  11. Frighteningly competent, yes. That sums it up well.
One big fun thing with Hype and Syn is that they group with Mal even more than HT and Scorp did.
